Memorial Day

Today in the United States is Memorial Day. This is a time in which we remember the fallen soldiers that have passed. Sometimes in living in a free country we may forget the terrific sacrifices that were made to bring us this freedom and likewise sometimes we as Christians can forget what terrific things Christ has done for us. Not that we truly forget but we don’t think on them as often as we should. Joshua chapter 4 says ,”3 And command ye them, saying, Take you hence out of the midst of Jordan, out of the place where the priests’ feet stood firm, twelve stones, and ye shall carry them over with you, and leave them in the lodging place, where ye shall lodge this night.” if you read further this was to be their “stones of remembrance.” These stones were to be a reminder of what all God had done for them, and not only a reminder for them but for a testimony for their children and their children’s children. You see when we remember and talk about what Christ has done for us, it renews our strength and  in turn inspires others and can strengthen their faith as well. I urge you to look back over your life, recall the times when you KNOW that God had a hand in your situation and write it down. Let this be your stones of remembrance, let this be for your Memorial Day, so that you will never forget, nor the ones around you, what the Lord has done for you, those terrific acts. Some people may say, well I cant think of any. Start with the greatest miracle, He saved you, then start to thank Him for other things and before long you will have numerous stones of remembrance and what a Memorial Day you will have then. Let us praise Him in the morning, at noon, and at evening, for He is great and worthy to be praised. Thank Him for all of His marvelous works. Let us never forget the supreme sacrifice that was made for us, His life for ours.  Happy Memorial Day and happy stones of Remembrance day for all of you Christians and soldiers of the cross.

I want to say that I love my country and we should pray that God would make us great one more time, and help our leaders not forget what our forefathers did and sacrifices they made to get us where we are now.

The other day my three year old daughter asked me a question. I tried to give her a simple answer, after all, she’s only three. Well, she was like, “mom why” and then she finally said in a frustrated voice, “mom, just tell me.”  Now she thought that I was purposely not telling her the truth when in fact I was telling her in a simple manner that I thought would cause her to understand. So I had to come up with a more detailed answer and yet keep it on her level. I was thinking on this while mowing my yard and how we Christians or even non-believers tend to ask our Father, why. We ask Him why, why, why when something happens that WE do not understand. If we are going to ask Him why does He allow bad things to happen then why not ask, why does He allow good things to happen or why did He make the earth, why did He even make man. You see these questions can never be answered here on earth because we cannot grasp the answer. His thinking is so far above our thinking and His ways are so far beyond our ways. Here is a question, why did God allow His own precious Son to be murdered? Our answer is simplistic but quite profound, because He loves us, but why??? You see we can never fully understand WHY God loves us, but He just wants us to accept the fact that He does. He wants us to except the fact that He allowed Jesus to die for us simply because He loves us. I’m sure the reasons He did what He did go so much deeper but all we need to know is that He loves us. We are tempted to ask why, when bad things happen, when what we need to do is ask for guidance and peace. I am guilty of this as well. My father once told me that if we knew why God did what He did, we would make the same decision as He did. Like I tried to explain a question to my daughter in a way she would understand, God knows we as humans cannot fully understand the “why” in life. You will drive yourself crazy and frustration will soon follow if you try to understand. Like the song says, I don’t have to understand, I just need to hold His hand. I thank God that He is so patient and kind and understanding. I’m glad He reveals to us little by little because we could not contain the whole. One day the questions we have will be answered and we will wonder no more. Until that day, rest in Christ, trust that He has a plan for your life even when bad things happen.

Gladly Heard….But…..

In reading my Bible this morning I was shocked to read a certain passage. I know I have read it before but God can and does reveal new things to you each time you read. In John chapter 6 Herodias hated John the Baptist because he told Herod the king it was not lawful to have his brother’s wife. It says that she would have killed him, but she could not. Verse 20 explains why she couldn’t. ” For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy , and observed him; and when he heard him, he did MANY things, and heard him GLADLY. ”  What shocked me when I read this was that Herod heard him glady, and did many things that John told him. He didn’t want to hurt John but we know the story goes that Herodias’s daughter danced for Herod and he got in the flesh and he allowed Satan to deceive him. When that happened John was beheaded. It says the king was exceeding sorry but the damage had been done. I ask you, is there anything that you are allowing in your life like Herod did that can cause you to be exceeding sad? Is there anything that you are allowing to come and deceive you and put you in a place you never dreamed you would be? Herod heard John, and was glad to hear him, are you at that point in your life where you hear God’s Word gladly, and would be willing to continue in faith but instead you allow things of this world to steal it away from you. We have the benefit of reading the Bible and learning from their mistakes. Don’t let ANYTHING or ANYBODY  deceive you and cause you to lose your salvation. His salvation is too precious. Let us gladly hear His word, and do His word, and cling to it like a life saver in the ocean.

He Could Do No Mighty Work There.

It says in the Bible that we have not because we ask not. This is so true. There are times, I believe, when the Lord wants to, and desires to do a work in our lives but we tie His hands. We often keep Him from performing the works that He is so very capable of performing. In Mark chapter 6, Jesus was in His own country and the people were like, is this not the carpenter’s son, Mary’s son and so on, Jesus then went on to say that a prophet has no honor in His own country and then verse 5 is the key verse for today, “And He could do there no mighty work, save that He laid His hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.” Here is the Lord of all, ready and willing to do great works, but He is not allowed to. Oh what joys and miracles these people missed out on because of there unbelief and doubt. Are we so different today? Are we so much better than these people? I say no, we live in an “age of miracles,” for lack of a better expression. We depend upon modern medicine and we tend to make praying to Jesus our last resort. I tell you, oh what joys and miracles we are missing out on. Oh how we have tied up our dear Lord’s hands, making it impossible for Him to reveal Himself to us.  I don’t know about you, but I am ready to untie His hands, I am ready to see the marvelous works that He is so ready to perform. Were those works only in the Bible times, No. Where is the God of Elijah? He is right here, and He has never changed, He is still the same yesterday, today and forever! Let us untie His hands and be prepared to see all the marvelous things He will do!

Your Potential

We as Christians are disciples of Christ and we are also His children. With that being said the power that was given to His disciples in Matthew chapter 10 verse 8..”Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. ” Now there is absolutely no reason at all why we cannot do as Jesus Himself instructed. He has given the same power to us. It says in the Bible that whatever we bind on earth shall be bound in heaven. These are not idle words to fill empty pages, these are genuine  guarantees. When a person uses this ability they are NOT to make a charge for this. Christ said that freely it was received and freely it should be given. I ask you, are you living up to your potential in Christ? Do you believe what He said? If you are living up to your potential, I praise God that you are! If you are not I pray that you will walk in ultimate faith and embrace all that He has promised to us. Imagined how the lives around you could be altered by what they will see and hear. We have an unlimited store of “Spiritual goods,”

that we can purchase with our faith! It’s time we as Christians start using that measure of faith that is given to all of us!!

My prayer for you all is that you will live up to your potential in Christ and I hope you will pray that I too will live up to my potential in Christ!

Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day to all the God fearing women that have tried to instruct the children in their lives in the way they should go!! Whether you birthed them or teach them in a class, you make a difference!!

All’s Well That Ends Well

I know most of you have heard the expression, “All’s well that ends well”. When I used to hear that, I couldn’t help but think of the hurt that was endured while getting to that point. I mean if your child is suffering from a disease and in a years time, they are better, then you can say that, but the pain still must be endured. There is coming a time when our end will come, and will it end well? If you have asked God into your life then here is what you can expect, Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. ”  You see, He has a plan of good for you and though you may suffer some pain here on earth, there is one thing guaranteed, your end will be well.
