I will be the first to admit that I have little knowledge of plants. I wish I could say that I have endless knowledge of which plant is which, and where this particular plant likes to be planted regarding shade or sun, but I cannot. So with that being said though I absolutely love gardens and mowing and, I know this is going to sound so strange, but I love pulling weeds. Well today I was doing just that, pulling weeds in my flower garden, and I came to a plant that I wasn’t sure if it was a weed or a flower. So I held it in my hand and compared it to the flower beside it and then I knew it was a weed, so out it went. At that time I was reminded of how we sometimes do not know if somebody is in fact a true Christian or not. But guess what, God does. He knows and He doesn’t even have to look at us real good to know it. However we do not have this ability and therefore we must trust our feelings, and listen to the Holy Spirit, and be diligent and not fall for everybody that says they are a Christian. After all, Judas was indeed a disciple wasn’t he. He was with Christ in body, but not in his spirit and not in his mind. Later we know his true colors were revealed. Matthew 7:15,16 says, ” Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly they are ravening wolves.(16) Ye shall know them, by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?” These were spoken by our dear Lord, and they are words of wisdom. So be like I was when I came across a plant that I wasn’t quite sure of, watch it, look at it, and examine it, pray that God will show you the truth that you will not be fooled. We have a plant in our vegetable garden that we are allowing to grow with our vegetables, simply because we are not sure what it is. So we are watching, and waiting, and when the time comes and if it is indeed a weed, it will be removed. As regarding these false prophets, Christ will do the removing and placing of people, we are to watch and wait and pray, for guidance and patience as we wait for His will to be done.
I just want to give an awesome update on baby J. As you know he was diagnosed with neuroblastoma over 6 months ago. This child has been such an inspiration to everyone who has watched him fight this awful disease. As we know, like the scripture says, “Greater is He that is within us, than he that is in the world and this example has been proven through baby J. He finished all of 6 months of treatment and then an extensive stem cell replacement process that was agony for him, but praise be to God he has come through that. He now has one more treatment left, and we are trusting in God that He will be with baby J and that this treatment will not be as brutal as the last. I trust all of you will join us in our prayers and join us in our faith, for God has never let us down and we know, He will come through again. We are trusting that baby J will come through this disease and go on to live a life for Christ in full strength of his body and that all of his organs will flourish and be stronger than ever.
I was watching the classic t.v. show this morning, Dennis The Menace. In the show Dennis was going to write a composition for school about his best friend. So Mr. Wilson, feeling that he was in competition with some of Dennis’s friends, sets out to prove that he is the best friend of young Dennis Mitchell. Mr. Wilson had an ulterior motive however, he wanted the neighborhood to think that he was in fact kind to children and to animals. During the course of the episode, Dennis got into trouble, as he often does, and his mother made him sit in the corner for one hour. Meanwhile she had to leave but gave strict orders to Dennis to stay in the corner. Naturally he was bummed and then as luck would have it, Mr.Wilson came over. Mr.Wilson decided to take the punishment for Dennis, allowing him to go and play outside, and not only that, he was gonna square it with his mother. In the end, Dennis did in fact write about Mr.Wilson and in his composition toward the end, he added the last reason why Mr. Wilson was his best friend, he said that Mr.Wilson will take the punishment for him and that’s why his best friend is, ” Good Ole Mr. Wilson!” Jesus did this for us. He took what should have been our punishment and not only that, but He intercedes for us with God. We deserved to be punished, He did not, but He did this anyway. When we stand before God, we will be recognized as His friends and children and not a stranger. John chapter 15: 13, ” Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” Unlike “Good Ole Mr. Wilson”, Jesus had absolutely no other motive in mind, other than saving our lives. He took all the shame and sin, in order that we may be washed and show ourselves white as snow before or King. He filled the gap that man had put a wedge in and He doesn’t call us servants, but friends. Can you call him your friend too? Think on these things, and if you cannot call Him friend, all you must do is accept His friendship and the sacrifice that he made for you, and ask Him into your heart. Ask Him to forgive your life of sin and ask Him to lead you, and He will welcome you into His family with open arms and you will be His friend.
I was outside mowing today and I came across a dead bird on the ground. I hate to see stuff like that and it hurt my heart. I was then reminded of the verse in the Bible that refers to the sparrow that falls. Our Lord never said that the sparrow would NOT fall, but he said that He sees it when it happens. Which leads me to believe that means, He sees and He will not forget and He will make it right. Matthew chapter 10:29-31″Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. 30. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.” Jesus has never promised an easy carefree walk with Him, but isn’t it such a great and awesome thought to know that the Father above has His eyes on us. Some terrible things happen and they seem so unfair. Like the child in Florida that was taken by an alligator. I can hardly even think about that because it hurts my heart so bad. Some people may say, well if God sees the little sparrow when it falls, why doesn’t He intervene, and that is a question that I simply cannot answer. All I can say is that if it hurts us so tremendously it has to hurt Him even more. I know He hates to see devastation take place and the only thing that brings me comfort is to know that He DOES see, He is MOVED with compassion and one day, He will make all things RIGHT! Do not let ANYBODY or any SITUATION ever cause you to think that you are not of the uttermost importance to Him. If He says He has every hair on your head numbered, then you can take that promise to the bank!! He does love us and He Is watching when crisis arise. All I can say to the family that lost their child, is that I am praying for peace in a time when peace seems so unattainable. Life here is truly a vapor. But one day all of our questions will come to an end and all will be well.
This morning I saw something on tv and I was so frustrated that I literally asked myself, is there any good people left in this world, check that, in this country? As soon as I asked myself that question, immediately the story of Elisha sprang to mind. The day and age we are living in people will have you believe that standing for what’s right, and let me clarify that one step further, standing up as a God fearing, Bible believing Christian, is a minority. First of all, if we are a minority, so what! How many of you know that God loves to work where others think it’s impossible or the odds are too innumerable? So our number does not matter. But that is just a side note here. 2 Kings 6:17 goes like this, ” And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! How shall we do?” Looking at a situation in which we are not privy to know the whole story or what’s really going on behind the scenes, can be scary, and cause frustration as with me this morning, how will we do, is there any good people left? Praise to God for He is privy to all the information! He knows the whole story and has written the ending! We do not need to be fearful for we know who holds the future. Now verse 16 and 17, “And he answered , Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said , Lord, I pray thee, open the eyes of the young man; AND HE SAW: and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.” What the servant couldn’t see but what Eliaha knew in faith, was that God has it all in control. He knows exactly what’s going on! And guess what, He still has many many that call on Him and seek to do His will!! Elijah in 1 Kings chapter 19, thought he was all alone. He thought that there was nobody willing to stand up for God but God told him in verse 18, ” Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him. ” I notice that God is not pacing the floors and neither should we. Let us pray for the lost in our nation and pray that the strength of the saints will be renewed. Where people will call sin, sin. And in the mean time, do not be discouraged, for if God would open our eyes, we would see His mighty army ready and waiting. We must believe and trust in Him.
Do you speak of Christ and His good works? Is your mouth ever ready to tell of His amazing acts? Our whole day cannot consist of these things but it is a tell tell sign of what is in someone’s heart. John 12:34 Jesus is speaking and this is what He says, ” O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? For out of the ABUNDANCE of the HEART the mouth speaketh.” We as Christians should have a holy heart, when we have a holy heart our language will then be evident that. That is why you should never hear a saint cursing with every breath or swearing, because their heart is full of God’s love thereby the conversation will be appropriate. Here’s another example of having abundance of Christ, calling sin, sin and wrong, wrong. We live in a time where people do not want us to call things wrong. If you do then they say that we are not Christians because we do not show the love of Christ. I’m here to tell you that people, “sinners” know enough about the Bible to be dangerous. I heard an advocate for gay rights say that it says in the Bible to love thy neighbor as thyself. He thinks that means we should be accepting of their lifestyle. That is NOT what that verse means. We are to love them as we would ourselves and that means pray for them, BUT also be an example of Christ and pray that they will see the lost condition of their souls. Because if we love our neighbors as ourselves we should not want them to go to hell and the only way for them to escape damnation is to be saved and turn from their wicked ways. The Bible says itself that homosexuality is an abomination. I didn’t mean to get on that subject but I felt I should clarify that we as Christians do not need to change our views but change our prayer routine and pray for this lost world. Because of the abundance of Christ in our hearts, we CANNOT call evil good and good evil. Jesus Himself told it like it was. He did not sway one way one day and another the next day. He spoke the truth and even though it may have been hard for the ones listening to hear, He spoke out of love and not anger. He truly loved them and us,as He loved Himself. He sent His Holy Spirit to give us the strength and courage to speak against the evil and the love for our neighbors to try to share the true gospel so they will not perish. That is love.
I have been fighting an unseen battle for a couple of weeks. During this time it was hard for me to read my Bible because of the dreariness that I felt. Tomorrow is my time to teach in my mom’s and my Sunday school class, and I gotta tell you at first I was struggling, but then as I read those precious words of scripture and held my Bible in my hands, I could feel my Spirit being renewed. I truly felt like I was a dry sponge that was regaining it’s shape and form while water was being poured on it. Tears came to my eyes as I tried to explain my feelings to my spouse. The love of God, how rich and pure, how marvelous. I just thank the Lord for His renewing water! Psalm 42:1 says it all, “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.” I beseech you all that no matter what you are facing, or how tired you are, you may feel things are impossible and you can hardly hold your head up in prayer, I pray that you will allow God to pour His Holy and renewing water over you. Technology is nice, but there is something about holding that Holy Bible in your hands. So get your hands on His Holy Word and hold that precious Word in your heart while you read, and let your Spirit be renewed. I know you will not be disappointed.
I want to dive right in today and start with Romans 12:3 For I say to every man that is among you, through the grace given unto me, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
God has given each person a measure of faith. What then are we to do with this measure of faith and can this faith increase? With the measure that he gives to all people, we use that faith and believe on Him and accept Him to be our Lord and Savior. The faith does not need to stop here though. Do you remember the story in the Bible where the master gave talents to his servants? He gave 5 talents to one, to another he gave 2, and to the last one he gave 1. The story continues and the one who had the 5, traded with them and made 5 more, likewise the one who had the 2, did the same, but the one servant who had the 1 talent, hid his. He hid his out of fear. Fear kept this servant from causing his master’s kingdom to grow. Likewise we as Christians have been given our measure of faith and we are to go out and spread the word, heal the sick, and bring hope to the hopeless, but if we are afraid and do not as He has commanded us then we are not being loyal servants, and we are inhibiting His kingdom from growing. Our faith is not intended to stay the same but it is intended to grow with each trial that we face, with each prayer that we see answered. Let your faith grow. Ask God of a hard thing, believing that He can meet the need. And as your faith grows, go out and spread the word so that others will receive their measure of faith and they can then go and spread the good news, causing our Master’s kingdom to grow.
