You all know the expression, give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish, you feed him forever, well this is a simplified example of how God works. God does not desire for us to have a short term answer to our long term problems. However, sometimes in desperation we pray for an answer now, we become shortsighted. He will answer some prayers in just the way that we ask, right now, but most of the time, when we are praying about something, He wants to answer it in a totally different way. That’s why it is so important to seek His will, and not only seek it, but be willing to accept it. In Acts chapter 3, there was a man who was lame from his birth, and people would bring him daily to the gate Beautiful, to ask for alms. Peter and John were going to the temple and the man was there, and this is what transpired. (3) ” Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked for alms. (4) And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. (5) And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. (6) Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. (7) And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ancle bones received strength.” ( I write exactly how it is in the Bible, so ankle is ancle. Just a fyi) But anyway, this man not knowing the will of God was content to have a short term answer to a long term problem, he needed money, a means to an end, but because Peter and John were honed in to God, they knew that it would be better for this man to regain the use in his legs, that he may then work for his income. Not only would he be able to physically work, but the ability to enjoy simple pleasures like running 🏃, and walking 🚶, and taking care of himself, would now be His for the choosing. God knew what was best for this man, the man was trying to make ends meet in the only way he knew how, but thanks to God, there was a better way. The man was living from one handout to the next, but God said No, you deserve better than this, you will rise and walk and have a good future. This is what God is saying to us too, we can rise and walk, and have a good future through Him. He is not bound by our constraints. His powers are infinite, and His ways are not our ways. So ask Him for what you want, and in all things ask that His will be done, you might be surprised how He chooses to answer.
Reading 📖, and better yet, knowing the Word of God is priceless. The time that you invest in learning His Word will not be wasted. We, as Christians must without a doubt read the Bible, there is no way around it. Because the Word of God was so well documented, the infallible proofs that Christ showed His disciples is passed down to us. His Word is cohesive and fits together perfectly, every time I read it, I am amazed. Reading His Word leaves me in amazement most of the time. I noticed in Acts this morning that when Peter was speaking, he would refer to earlier prophecy, and how did he know these things, except he had read them from God’s Word. The form in which we read it may have changed but the contents have never changed. His Word is beyond reproach and is full of infallible proof. In Acts 2:16, Peter draws from the previous well that Joel had dug, “But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel.” He was referring to the Holy Spirit, we see here more infallible proof. God is not afraid for His Word to be examined under a microscope, as a matter of fact, go ahead and do just that, because in doing so, one will see how it all ties in together. Down further in chapter 2 in verse 25, it says this, ” For David speaketh concerning Him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for He is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:” These words had been written long, long before Christ ever came and yet they were being used to explain what was happening in that moment. God’s Word is timeless, it never goes out of date. It has been inspired by the Holy Spirit, and that is why today, we can read it and it’s just as real to us today as it was thousands of years ago. There are a lot of things in this world 🌎 that we can skip from day to day, but reading 📖 His Word is not one of them. Read it today, and find the good news for you that was written thousands of years ago. You will find that He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
I have a yorkie named Heidi, and she is a mess. She can be pretty particular about certain things. One thing she does is this, if she’s sitting on my lap and I put lotion or anything that smells good on my hands, she will jump down and move elsewhere. I had just washed my hands and sat down to write this morning, and I put her back on my lap, she wasn’t there 60 seconds and she jumped down and went to lay beside our golden retriever,Finley. Now Heidi absolutely loves to sit on my lap, but rather than have a fresh scent on her, she jumped down and went to rest beside our other dog. Finley doesn’t smell by any means, but she doesn’t smell as pleasant as my hands. Even if Finley did smell bad, Heidi would have still left me for her. I know you’re probably thinking 💭, what does this have to do with God, I feel like God dropped in my heart ❤️, that this is what people do as well. A lot of times when people start to feel uncomfortable around a Christian, they will get away as fast as they can and go and be with one who does not “smell,” that way. They do not like the cleanliness of the Christian because it shows how dirty they are, and if it’s one thing we know it’s this, when we feel uncomfortable 😣, it’s time to leave. That’s why communication breaks down in a relationship, because exumining feelings is uncomfortable, so one will walk away, and before you know it, nobody is talking about what really matters. Hear, what is being said in Romans chapter 12:2, ” And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” We are not to stay where it feels comfortable with no change, we are supposed to grow and prove that which is good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. We are not to be CONFORMED of this world 🌎. We are supposed to be different. When we are renewed daily, we are washing our hands , sorta speak, with a beautiful fragrance, deep cleansing soap, and just like Heidi did, there are some people who will not like it, it may offend them, and they may pull away. Don’t take it personally, people did this to Christ as well, and this will always happen until He returns for those who love Him. If and when people choose to be with those who do not make them feel uncomfortable, just keep praying for them, continue to be nice when you see them, continue to let the fragrance of Christ exude from you, because you never know, they may one day choose to be cleansed of their sins just like you, all because you continued to do God’s will and was not conformed of this world 🌎.
Mary Magdalene, went to the tomb where Jesus was laid when it was still dark on that first day of the week. She was by herself and she saw the stone had been rolled away. She was frightened and ran and told Simon Peter and another disciple, and they all went together. This would be her second time there. When the disciples saw that Jesus was gone they went back to their own homes, but this time Mary stayed. She was weeping, her heart was crushed, as was the disciples’ heart, but different people handle things in different ways. So, she was left there crying, and perhaps the disciples were too distraught to even help her, and that’s why they left her there, but Mary stooped down and she saw two angels sitting in the tomb where Jesus had been lain. I don’t know if she really truly realized who they were, because they asked her why she was weeping and she said that her Lord had been taken away, and she didn’t know where He was. Verse 14 of John chapter 20, ” And when she had thus said, she turned herself back and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus. “(15), “Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She supposing Him to be the gardener, saith unto Him, Sir, if thou have borne Him hence, tell me where thou hast laid Him, and I will take Him away.” The courage she had was amazing, her heart was broken, but she desired to see her Lord so badly, that she practically begged for information on His whereabouts. She was probably frantic with adrenaline, perhaps crying uncontrollably, verse 16, “Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto Him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.” When she saw Him, she didn’t know who He was, she probably felt despair as He listened to her but offered no suggestions where her Lord might be, but, His sheep know His voice, and when He called her name, immediately she recognized Him, and she turned around and said, Master. Mary sought Him, she wanted to see her Lord. I’m not saying she loved Him more than His disciples, but where much is forgiven, there is much gratitude, and she knew that she owed her life to Him, and she wanted to be close to Him. Christ knew He could not let her walk away in despair, He knew that she needed to be encouraged. In His time He was going to reveal Himself to His disciples, but her need couldn’t wait, so He spoke her name. Jesus knows what we can stand, and for how long, when you feel you may be at your breaking point, He knows if you truly are, and if you will hold on like Mary, continue to seek Him, because as we read, this was her second time there, He will answer you, and when Christ speaks, one word makes the difference! All He needs to say is,peace, and there will be peace. No matter the hardship continue on until He speaks that word to you.
People often think that if you are a Christian, you are weak. They think that because you choose to turn the other cheek, you are scared, but it is quite the opposite. Stepping back takes more courage because you are choosing to let God handle it. However God has used many a people to perform extraordinary things. David, because he’s trusted God, brought down a giant, and this is just one of the things he did, Joshua because he trusted God, brought down a wall without any tools, George Washington, because he trusted God, led our country to freedom. Ordinary men, can do extraordinary things when they let God use them. Mark 15 gives reference to an ordinary man who was not afraid to take a chance. Verse 43, “Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.” Joseph, I can only imagine was perhaps a mild mannered man, he strikes me as not being a boisterous person. I feel this way because the Bible said he went boldly, which makes me think this was perhaps out of the norm for him. He had seen the turn of events, he had seen this Man that he believed to be the Christ, tortured and brutally killed, and yet, fearing not the repercussions, he went boldly and asked for his Lord’s body. The care he took in handling Jesus’s body shows again how gentle this man was. Verse 46, “And he bought fine linen, and took Him down, and wrapped Him in linen, and laid Him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre.” This man did not care what others would say about him, he took Jesus down from the cross, and gently placed Him in fine linen. I wander if those who had screamed and ranted so vehemently against Jesus, if they mocked Joseph for this act, I’m not sure, but whatever was going on during this time, Joseph took his time and tended to Jesus in a caring and loving way, he didn’t rush, he took care of Jesus, and he did it right. He didn’t perform what we think a mighty man of valor would do, but he was mighty in a different way. The boldness that he had was accompanied by great compassion, and this shows what an ordinary man can do, when Jesus is the center of his attention. He will always be remembered for the man who put Jesus in his tomb, and who took care of Him. He will always be remembered for going boldly to Pilate and begging for Jesus’s body. This man, a noble and honorable counselor begged for the body of his Lord. He was an ordinary man that humbled himself, and did an extraordinary thing. He was not concerned for himself, he only wanted to tend to His Lord. This is one example of how being a Christian will cause the one you least expect, the ordinary person to perform the extraordinary.
I saw a miracle yesterday. Not one that happened right before my eyes 👀, but one that has been a process. The baby 👶 that I have requested prayer for often, “Baby J,” is doing so well! He looks completely healthy! He has his hair back now, and he only has two more treatments and he will be done! This child has been through the fire 🔥 and has come through! God has been with him, and only because of God is this child here today. God had defeated his neuroblastoma months ago, we knew he would survive, but he still had to go through the treatment, but God has been with him, and his parents! This is for real people, this is really happening and when I was praying this morning, I was praising God for His works, and praising Him that He is the ONLY ONE TRUE GOD! Then in my Bible reading I read this verse, and I knew I must blog it, John 17:3, ” And this is life eternal, that they might know Thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom Thou hast sent. ” God is real, there is no doubt! He is the only one true God! He will show Himself to those who are seeking Him! Do you want to see the sick healed, do you want to see your loved ones saved, then seek Him, for He is the ONLY true God! Seek Him everyday! Some people are skeptical in believing the Word of God and this is a trick of the devil. You must believe as a child believes, that Christ lives and is who He says He is. Once you do, once you seek Him, you will experience things in your walk that reaffirm to you that He is truly God, then when someone casts doubt in your mind about Him, you will draw from those times when you know in your heart of hearts that it was God’s intervention and nobody else’s . It all starts with faith. One of my all time favorite Christmas movies is The Santa Claus with Tim Allen, and in the movie his son, Charlie, is doubting if Santa is real, and this is what Tim Allen says, “Charlie, sometimes seeing isn’t believing, but believing is seeing,” this part in the movie always touches my heart! We don’t see Christ, but as we believe we then see, we see His hand in our lives, we see how He carries us through the most difficult times in our life, we see Him answer prayers that seem unanswerable, we see God! He is the ONLY ONE TRUE GOD, and I am glad He knows me, has saved me, and keeps me, aren’t you?
In Exodus chapter 16, the children of Israel were in the wilderness, complaining about food , God sent bread 🍞 from heaven every day, and the people were to gather enough for that particular day. Only on the sixth day they could gather double. Those who truly trusted God, did as instructed, because they knew the Lord would supply. Verse 19, “And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till morning.” God wanted them to depend on Him, to meet their needs each day.
Everyday, I pray that God will give me something to write, and everyday I wonder if He will. I realize now that He wants me to come to Him each day and ask for something to write. He doesn’t want me to have a book of ideas that I jot down and then pull from them when it’s time to write. Each day must be fresh manna, a fresh word from Him. My friends this is how we must live. Each day come to Him and ask Him for His guidance, His will, His blessings, His grace to see you through. One should not pray one time a week and ask for these things. Could God indeed answer these prayers, yes, but He wants us to have fresh daily bread. He wants us to lean completely on Him. There is nobody else we must turn to for our strength, it is in Him and Him alone.
When you are facing a difficult situation you may need to come to Him throughout the day and ask for more bread and guess what, He is okay with that. Our God is a personal and personable God, if you feel weak, He wants you to pray to Him right then. Trust me, He will not grow weary of you asking Him for help. When we stop asking Him, when we feel we can make it on our on, that’s when we make a big mistake. Some people in the tribe of Israel tried to save theirs and not get new bread but in verse 20, see what happened “Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left of it until morning, and it bred worms, and stank: and Moses was wrong with them. ” We must depend on God daily, our faith is renewed daily, each day He gives us what we need. The Bible says each man is given a measure of faith. The faith we had yesterday will not be enough for today, so when we pray each day, our faith is renewed. He feeds us His daily bread and we grow. Those who don’t trust God enough to live from faith to faith, they will find it difficult to live for Him. The children of Israel that tried to make it on there own, those that thought they were smarter than Moses, found out that their bread had worms and stank. We are living beings, we must drink water 💦 everyday, we must eat food 🥘 everyday, without it, we will surely die. Our Spiritual health is the same, we must read His Word daily, we must drink from His fountain when we pray, if we do not, then we will surely die. It’s never too late to start gathering the daily bread. You can start today and be blessed, and tomorrow, gather again and be blessed.
I pray that’s God will bless you today with new daily bread 🍞.
You’ve all heard the riddle, If a tree falls in the woods, and nobody is there to hear it, did it really make a sound. Humans take this a step further sometimes, they want to do whatever they want to, and not be held responsible for their actions. The Bible says that, No man is an island, so your actions affect people around.
People like to use plausible deniability, and when someone claims this, they think this clears them of wrong doing, kind of like how Pilot washed his hands to signify that he was stepping away from the crucifixion, but no matter how much he washed those hands, they still had Christ’s blood on them. Likewise people think if they refuse knowledge of Christ then they cannot be held accountable for not knowing Him. In John 15:22, Jesus says this, ” If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin. ” Nobody can stand before the Lord on judgement day and claim that they didn’t know about Him. Having the opportunity to learn about Him and choosing not to, removes the plausible deniability. True, “technically,” they didn’t know about Him, BUT they had the time and opportunity to know Him, and they CHOSE not to take it. People will not be able to claim ignorance before the Lord, because they were given opportunity to come to Him. God does not put people in hell, it is the people who choose to go there. He made an escape route, it is up to us to take it.
There are some people who may want to argue that He was talking about those people during His walk here on earth, when He was physically here, but He is alive and lives, so His presence is still here, so what He said, still stands, and furthermore in verse 26, He says this, “But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of Truth, which proceedeth FROM the Father, He shall testify of me:” So there you have it, Jesus has sent the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth and He testifies of Christ, therefore we will be held accountable for our knowledge of Him, there is no cloak to hide our sin anymore. There can be no deniability, Jesus came to earth, He died for our sins, He rose again, He sent the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth to guide us, therefore if we choose not to follow, that is sin, and there is no cloak that can cover it.
Things happen in life that cause us to worry. We are not omnipotent, therefore we cannot know what the outcome will be. If you are one of God’s children however, you will be okay 👌! How do I know this, how can I say this with all certainty? Well because I myself am wondering how a certain circumstance is going to play out. I have prayed and prayed, and yet there has been no answer, BUT when reading His precious Word this morning, something came to me. John 15, starting in verse 1, Jesus is speaking, ” I AM the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. (2) Every branch in me that beareth not fruit He taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, He purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.” After reading through part of the chapter it dawned on me, I am in His vine, if you are saved then you are in His vine, WE are His, we are abiding in Him, therefore He will take care of the situation! He let me know, I will not fall, He knows what I need, He will take care of it, because He takes care of His vineyard! God is the husbandman, Christ is the vine, and if you abide in Him, God WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU! Not one branch of His vine can wither away, where He does not try to keep it healthy and tend to it. He will strive for that branch. It hurts His heart when a branch pulls away, but He will not force any “branch,” to stay in the vine, it is us, who separates ourselves from the vine.Verse (4) says, “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye,except ye abide in Me. (5) I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me you can do nothing. ” Except we abide in the vine, we can do nothing! We will only grow, we will only live up to our potential, if we abide in Him. Why, you may ask, because when you abide in Him, He tends to you, He protects you, He feeds you, you will have water even though others are experiencing drought, He is the ultimate Provider, the ultimate Cultivator, He is the I AM! Abide in the vine always, allow Him to work through you, stay on the vine no matter what tempts you. God is the only true “Green Thumb,” only in Him will you be safe, and grow. Christ is the ONLY Vine, stay in Him that you may continue to have life and flourish! Abide in the Vine, always.
Have you ever seen those lights that can be strapped onto a person’s head? These can be very beneficial if one is walking in the dark and carrying something at the same time. They can also be useful when one is working on something and needs light, but their work requires both hands. Back before people had these handy lights, those men who worked in the coal mines would use candles on their helmets to see. So it has always been a necessary tool and now it is been perfected. People have always needed that light to shine on a dark situation, and in Deuteronomy we see an illustration of such an item. In chapter 5 the Ten Commandments had been given, in chapter 6, we are being taught just how important it is to keep those commandments and how important it is to teach them to our children. In verse 4 and 5 it says this, “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: (5)And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.” This is the great commandment, if you keep this one, the others will automatically be kept. Verse 8 ” And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.” These Words or Commanments, are not just daily living suggestions, they are the light that we must use to shine upon the darkness. God’s light was perfected when Christ came, and died, and rose again, and when He sent His Holy Spirit. God’s words light the path that we tread. These words guide us, and keep us in His will. Without His Word, we flounder in the darkness, but when we put them before us, as frontlets, we can see clearly, we can walk the path that we must walk, without stumbling in the dark. The scripture says in Psalms 119:105, “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” His Word shines the light and without it, we cannot see. He, through His Word and the Holy Spirit, guides us through righteousness. We cannot attain this on our own, we cannot see the way without His Word. If you have the desire to want to do right, you want to walk on the right path, remember you cannot without guidance, the path is dark, this world is dark, you cannot maneuver on your own, you need His Word, His Light. Keep His Word in your heart, keep His light between your eyes, and walk the path before you boldly and with confidence.
