Do You Want to Quit?

Have you ever been working somewhere, and you wanted to quit? Okay, now I know each and every one of us has been there. So what do we do? Well, it is very easy to get a bad attitude when this happens. Perhaps you feel overlooked, overwhelmed, and discouraged, and when you feel this way, it’s going to seep into your job. There will be a difference in your work ethic, and perhaps you will complain more and more. This is totally understandable, you feel trapped. First what you should do is, seek the Lord wholeheartedly, second listen to what He is saying, thirdly trust Him, fourth obey Him. When you have done all this, daily, then you need to stand oand if a different door does not open, you stand on His Word, and if a different door does open, you stand on His Word. Why stand, because if you obey Him, you will have peace, if you act in the flesh you will have misery. Colossians chapter 3:23, “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as unto the Lord, and not unto men.” Just imagine while you are turning that wrench, flipping that egg, driving that truck, that you are doing it for Him, knowing you are doing it for His glory, gives you a whole new perspective on your job and guess what, that new perspective will then seep into your work where others can see it, and they may say, how are you so happy when our boss is so terrible, then my friend, you can say, well let me tell you why… You’re no longer working a job, but you are living a testimony for Him!

What Are You Working For?

I know of someone who has spent years building a lucrative business. People trust and like this person. Unfortunately, now this person is fighting a terminal disease, and from the way I understand it, if God does not heal this person, then they will pass away 😞. I thought 💭 to myself how successful this person had been, but now what does that matter, because when this person is gone, someone else will inhabit that house 🏡, and someone else will work that business. This could be a devastating reality to some, if they have put all their hopes and dreams into earthly goods.

Colossians chapter 3:2, “Set your affection (mind) on things above, not on things on the earth.”  God knows we must work and labor here on earth 🌏, but while we are working, we must remember 💡that these things are temporary, if the Lord doesn’t come back before we die, then someone else will be living in our houses 🏡, working our jobs.

It’s so easy to get caught up in material things. I see cars 🚗 that are nicer and newer than mine, and I think 💭, boy I’d like to have a car 🚗 like that, but why, I ask myself, is my car broken down and no good, No, so what’s the reason for me to get another one?  It’s because of vanity and getting caught up in the things of this world 🌎. This is why we must commune with God, learning His ways. The more we strive to be closer with Him, the more the things of this world 🌎 seem to fade away and not matter as much.

The times that are spent with the Lord are eternal, living in His will, studying His Word, spreading the gospel.

There’s a song that goes like this,🎶 This world is not my home, I’m only passing through, my treasures are laid up, somewhere beyond the blue. 🎶

Set your affections above, and look up, because our redeemer is coming soon!

Beauty in the Dark

1 Corinthians 13:12, “For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.” The word darkly here also means riddles, and do you ever feel that sometimes life is a riddle. There are so many things that you face, so many trials that you don’t understand, it all seems as a riddle. We see through the glass darkly in those times.

Yesterday on our way to church, I was looking at the clouds ☁️. Now, through my sunglasses 😎, I was able to see all sorts of dimensions, I could see even past the fluffy clouds ☁️ to small ones behind them. It really was quite beautiful. I lifted my glasses 👓 to see what it would look like and even though they were still pretty, I couldn’t see all the dimensions and the smaller clouds ☁️ like I could earlier. They were not as grand as they were with my glasses 👓 on. This got me to thinking 💭, there are times we face in our life that seem unbearable, and if given the choice, we’d just assume to pass on those times, BUT could it be that in the dark times of your life, there can be the most beautiful times with God. During those turbulent times, if you will look through those glasses 👓, you will see Someone that you may not have seen or experienced without the dark times, you will see God and the beauty of Him holding you. You will see a different dimension of Him, you will find that not only did He die to redeem you, but He has not left you comfortless,  and you will learn to be more dependent upon Him.

Through those difficult times is when He gives beauty for ashes my friends. If you are facing something now, look beyond the trial, look through the dark glass and see your Lord and the beauty of Him.

You are not alone, you will face riddles, but He is with you, and we know that all things work to the good for those who love the Lord and are called according to HIS purpose.

Dying to Produce

My husband enjoys planting a vegetable 🥒 garden each year. When he plants, he will go out often to check and see if there are signs of life. Finally after a few days he will see the stem of fresh life breaking the ground and before you know it, you are reaping the benefits from that one seed. But, before one can reap the benefits, that seed must first die, and when it dies, it is then able to produce. One thing I noticed in the garden was that there were several seeds that had never developed, they had never died, and therefore they were fruitless. They had been either washed out by heavy downpours of rain ☔️ or moved by the strong winds 💨 that came along. Whatever the cause, they had remained a whole seed.

When someone gets saved, they must “die,” to their old ways, that’s why people get baptized in water, to symbolize the casting off of old and becoming new. These new Christians must be willing to give God all, thereby dying to self, and allowing the profitable fruits to come forth. However, this is not just for the new Christian but for us all. We cannot be all that God wants us to be, if we do not “die,” daily. That means consciously choosing to put God first, putting aside our own selfish desires, and allowing Him to work through us. In 1 Corinthians chapter 15:36, “Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:” The word quickened means to spring to life, or to be alive, so how ironic it is that Paul is saying, The seed is not quickened unless it die. We as Christians must die to self so that we will plant our roots in the firm foundation, so when those heavy downpours come, and the winds do blow, God will still find us, planted firmly, being fruitful for Him.

One day, we will for one last time, die to self. We will pass from this world to His world, we will cast this carnal shell off for a new spiritual body.  Verse 44,” It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.”

Oh what blessed hope we have!

Thirsty 💦

I was outside mowing yesterday and my neighbor came over for a few minutes. As I stood in the hot sun, while he was talking, all I could think about was my bottle of water that was sitting on my lawnmower. Just the thought of the cool, clean refreshing water made my mouth all the more dry as I yearned for it. Needless  to say, I did get my water and it was so satisfying and refreshing.

Psalms 42:1-3 “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.(2)My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God? (3) My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?”

Christians face battles everyday. They may be fighting mental battles, physical battles, or Spiritual battles. In the heat of these battles one can get so thirsty and long for the Lord, and wonder where He is. One may feel neglected and alone, but my dear friends, just as my refreshing water was near me, God is ever near His children. We will have battles, we may become weak, but just when you feel you are almost to the breaking point if you will reach for Him, there He will be, and He will refresh your soul in the only way that He can.

Only He can satisfy those who thirst. Keep serving our Lord, embrace the thirst for righteousness and drink it up when He supplies His refreshing Spirit, and let your strength be renewed. You are not alone.

Standing for Christ

The reverence for Jesus has long since passed among those who are not saved, and even some who are Christians have lost their respect for Him. People have become numb and callus regarding Jesus, forgetting that He died a cruel death. I saw a picture of the Last Supper and it was being used in a way that to me, tainted the sincerity of the moment that had been captured in that painting. Reading the comments, the census was, amusing. However, I was hurt because this is my Lord, and your Lord, our Savior.

A lot of society see Him as a joke, and insist on making him the center of their humor. I commented, Why use Jesus, isn’t there any others to pick on? I am reminded of Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”

There comes a time when one must draw a line in the sand and say, that’s enough, I’m not going to participate in that, I’m not going to laugh at that joke, I will not partake with those whose belittle what Christ did for us.

He was not just a good man, He was not some weak person that was afraid to stand up for what was right, He was and is the Almighty God, He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and we should be proud to stand with such a One. He laid down His life for us, therefore we stand up for Him.

I pray that God will give all His children the strength to stand up for the right, and I ask that you will pray for me.

We all need His strength, because it is not in our own strength that we are able to stand, but through Christ alone.

May He get all the honor, glory and praise.

The Only “Tool” for Life

Yesterday I was trying to move a wooden swing set. I was using every possible thing to move it, my car 🚗, lawnmower, 😂 . I know it sounds absurd, but there you go. My son only mentioned twice, to wait for dad, and I say only mentioned twice because he knows when I want to do something I don’t want to wait. Well the most simple and easiest way to move it would have been to try to take some of it apart. The section I wanted to take apart was screwed in with a nut or bolt on the back,(probably not the right terminology) and as luck would have it, the size I needed to fit the nut was nowhere to be found. I had every size but that one ☝️. I was feeling very frustrated, but I continued to try and move it, and little by little it would budge. I found it so ironic that the tool I needed to complete this job, was the only one I didn’t have. It literally took all day to finally get it to where I needed it to be 😄. How much easier it would have been to have the proper tools, I thought to myself.

Do you ever find that you are struggling in life, you have tried all and yet all has failed? In your frustration you feel like giving up. Could it be that you are missing a very important “factor,” the only one ☝️ that can solve the problem? Psalms 119:173, ” Let Thine hand help me; for I have chosen Thy precepts.” Have you chosen His precepts? Unlike my situation, the tool I needed was nowhere to be found, but Jesus is right here. He has been with you all along, you need but to ask Him. He is close as the mention of His name. I don’t know about you but I find great comfort in that fact, and it is indeed a fact.

Whatever you need He can supply and most importantly, if you are lost, He will give you His salvation. Don’t try to go it alone, come to Him today.

Life’s Highway

Whenever you pass a car 🚗 on the side of a road, and it has a cloth hanging out of the window, that indicates the vehicle is broken down. This vehicle 🚗 is rendered useless until someone can come and tow it to a mechanic shop and have it fixed. If the driver was to never call for help, the car would just sit there never fulfilling it’s purpose.

Our journey for God is similar to this. We may be driving along, everything seems fine, and then all of a sudden that check engine light comes on, and kaput, you stall out. What do you do? Do you just say forget it and walk away from your faith, leave it all behind? No, if you do that, then you are not fulfilling what God has planned for you, and He does have plans for you. Psalms 121:1-2, “I WILL lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. (2) My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.”

When you feel you have “broken down,” lift your hands up to God, let that signify you need help, look unto Him, look unto the hills from whence cometh your help. Don’t walk away from your faith. Wait on God, pray to Him with a humble heart and ask Him for help, He will come help you, He will give you whatever you need, forgiveness, salvation, strength, wisdom, grace, mercy, whatever the case may be, He can give all because He is all! All that you will ever need. He can make water come from a rock, He can cause a fish to provide money, He can cause a dead end sea to become a highway for His children to walk across! He is our redeemer and He does not want you to stay broken down, Matthew 11:28, “Come unto me, ALL ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Don’t stay broken down on the side of the highway of life, call upon Him, He will get you going again!

No other can offer that guarantee!

A Tale of Two Shepherds

There once was a man, and this man loved his sheep 🐑. He slept near them, He watched over them day and night,He fed them and watered them. To this man, they were His family, and He treated them as such. This man knew of other sheep 🐑 who were being deceived, they were being led through dangerous and treacherous paths. They were scattered, confused, they were hungry and worn, but they knew no different, so they thought this was “normal.” The so called ” shepherd,” had the poor sheep 🐑 following him down a dead end road, and at the end there was certain death. The man that was deceiving the sheep had no interest in caring for them or loving them, he only wanted to destroy them. The Good Man, the other true Shepherd  had heard of this plot and he knew this must be stopped, for he loved all sheep, not just a chosen few. He walked down the treacherous path that the other sheep had been led, into the dark place where they were being held. He was faced with a tremendous amount of opposition along the way, for the bad “shepherd,” knew he was coming, and he knew that this Shepherd was unlike any other shepherd. With many tricks, he tried to discourage Him,but it didn’t work, the Good Sheperd made his way to where the sheep were. His compassion grew and failed not for these lost sheep. However the  sheep did not recognize this Shepherd, they had been deceived for so long that they couldn’t see that He was the only one who truly loved them. Bleating and butting him, they refused him. The Shepherd did not let this deter him from his plan. The only way for these sheep to see that He truly loved them, and that He would do anything for them, was to lay His own life down for them, hoping that they would turn from the darkness. He Himself became a Lamb. He was abused, tormented, humiliated, and finally He was killed. His precious pure blood spilled and ran to the ground, covering the feet of those who had mocked Him. Some realized this blood was Holy, and that an innocent Lamb had died for them. He died for the sheep 🐑 that did not even know Him, nor did they like Him. This Lamb did not stay dead, but miraculously He arose on the third day, and many of the lost sheep remembered this Great Shepherd, and how He became a sacrificial Lamb for them, many turned and followed Him, and even today, sheep are following Him, and new sheep are joining His flock each day! He was triumphant in death! He was and is undefeated! 10:15,16,”As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.(16) And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them ALSO I MUST bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one Shepherd.”

What a wonderful Shepherd He is!

Prayers and Thanks

It’s so hard sometimes to be subject to someone in authority that you may not particularly be fond of. What should you do if you don’t care for your boss, your teacher, the principal at your school, or the leaders of your country? Should you rebel, and make life hard on them, and in turn for yourself or should you pray for them?🤔   Well, the Bible says to pray for these people. As a matter of fact I’m going to take this one step further, perhaps the love of your life has not turned out to be what you thought they should be, instead of concentrating on the negative aspects, pray for them, and pray God will give you guidance. This can be difficult and perhaps even harder than praying for those in authority, but it is right. 1 Timothy 2:1,2,3″I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, giving of thanks, be made for all men:(2)For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. (3) For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior.” You see it is so very pleasing to God for us to pray for ALL men, including kings, and those in authority. Not only should we pray for them but it also said in verse 1, to give thanks. It’s easy to count the negative 👎  things about people, and in turn we become more and more angry 😡 and frustrated, BUT, if we give thanks for them to God, and pray for them, it not only helps them, but it will help us, for it’s hard to find negative things about people when you are giving thanks for them. So I encourage you today, husbands and wives, be thankful for your spouse, and pray for them, be thankful for your boss, and pray for them, be thankful for those in authority and pray for them to have guidance and wisdom. When you thank God for them, and pray for them, you are allowing God to handle the situation instead of you yourself, and He can handle things a whole lot better than we can. 😁
